OptoNet Workshop
Ultra Precision Manufacturing of Aspheres and Freeforms
The Ultra Precision Manufacturing of Aspheres and Freeforms (UPM) workshop has brought together the international ultra-precision community in Jena since 2010. Held biennially, it is a well-established platform for exchange in optical manufacturing, metrology, and system integration.
Organised by OptoNet e.V. with Fraunhofer IOF, UPM focuses on the fabrication and characterization of aspherical and freeform optics, combining scientific depth with industrial relevance.
By connecting key players across research and industry, UPM strengthens Jena’s role as a global hub for photonics and ultra-precision engineering.
In 2026 we will focus on
- Freeform optics for novel applications
- Mid spatial frequency errors
- Freeform optical systems and
- Manufacturing and characterization of freeform surfaces
